Enhancing Overall Well-being
Many people consider getting a massage an occasional luxury or an indulgence they treat themselves to once or twice a year, but making regular massage therapy a part of your routine has many benefits. The Mayo Clinic, the World Health Organization and many other health and wellness organizations now recognize the many ways in which massage can contribute to overall health and well being and suggest that getting a massage at least twice a month may improve an individual’s health in several ways.
Relieving Stress
It’s long been known that massage can relieve stress, but are you aware that massage reduces stress in several ways? It not only soothes away stress by loosening those tight muscles, it also reduces fatigue and improves your sleep quality. Improved sleep leads to less stress and more energy, helping you cope with life’s daily ups and downs more efficiently. If you make therapeutic massage part of your routine, you’ll be starting a cycle that will nurture a less stressful, more relaxed lifestyle.
Improving Circulation
Your body’s lymphatic system flushes toxins out of your body, and massage stimulates the lymph system so that it performs more effectively, carrying away any toxins that are built up in muscles and other tissues. Massage also improves blood circulation for more efficient heating and cooling of the body and better oxygen exchange.
Relieving Pain
Therapeutic massage is one of the most effective forms of non-pharmaceutical pain relief for sore, tired, and tense muscles. It can get rid of those painful knots that lead to intense pain in the neck and shoulders as well as painful cramping in overworked muscles. With regular sessions, massage therapy can also improve range of motion and minimize swelling in sprains and strains. There are a variety of ways massage seems to work to reduce pain. First, it triggers the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers produced by the body, reducing the intensity of pain. Recent studies have also shown that massage reduces the levels of substance P, a brain chemical related to pain, in patients suffering from chronic pain.
Boosting Immunity
We overwork, overeat, worry too much, and don’t get enough rest. It’s life in the fast lane all the time, and our bodies suffer, producing a stress hormone called cortisol that has been linked to everything from weight gain to a compromised immune response. Massage reduces cortisol levels dramatically, strengthening our immune systems so that we are better able to fight off illness and recover more quickly when we do become sick. Lower cortisol levels also mean we metabolize food, particularly sugars, more efficiently.
Nurturing
The most ephemeral benefit of Chiropractic Massage Therapy may be the most important one. It simply feels good to relax and let someone nurture our bodies and souls through the gentle but firm sensation of touch. We all long to be held, to be touched, to be cared for—and massage, for an hour out of our hectic lives, lets us give over our bodies and minds to someone else to be cared for completely.
“These gals are heaven sent. We found them after we moved to San Diego and starting seeing them regularly every few months. They’re so kind and welcoming and are always so intentional with every visit, it’s like having a chiropractic apt with a friend! When I learned I was pregnant I had some serious issues with my SI joint, Dr Fox took that excellent care to another level through the rest of my pregnancy and even postpartum. I can’t prove it but I’m 100% certain the reason I had a smooth, easy and most important, speedy, delivery is because of the care I received here leading up to the birth of our son.
You guys rock!”
“Dr. Ali and Dr. Fox kick ass and they genuinely care about their patients. I have every other Monday off and I make sure that visiting the Spinal connection is part of that day. The first thing you notice is that it smells so good in there, it immediately calms you down and lets you know you’re in a good place. And they are always playing some some cool music in the background. Then the rolling machines!! My back can’t give them enough praise. 10 minutes of pure rolling pleasure on the spine. And finally you get Dr. Ali or Dr. fox to work on your back. They always greet you with a smile, ask you about your back and make the necessary adjustments that help get me thru the 2 weeks until my next visit. I honestly look forward to my visits. It’s been a bummer noting being able to visit the last month with the pandemic but looking forward to getting back on track with these amazing ladies!”
“Great service, great staff!!!
This is the only place that solves my back problems. I used to have a lot of back pain and by consequence headaches. Dr Katie and Dr. Ali are the best!!!
Thank you!!”
“Dr. Katie and Dr.Ali are incredible. They made me a believer in chiropractic care when I didn’t have any options for pain management. I moved away to another state and I still come into their office for treatments on all of my return visits to San Diego. Not only are they great doctors but they are just overall great people. 100 Stars!”
